TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK, near the Great Rift Valley and the Masai Steppe, is Tarangire National Park. It is part of the northern safari route of the country.Size

It takes up 1615 square miles to be Tarangire National Park.

History

The Tarangire National Park was created in 1957 as a game reserve. It was named after the Tarangire River, which flows through the park. After that, in 1970, it was made a National Park.

Fees and permits to get in

Each person must show valid ID in order to enter Tarangire National Park, which costs UDS 53.

The Tarangire National Park gates are open from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm.

How to Get There

By Road

Tarangire National Park is 87 miles away from Arusha. If you drive on good roads, the trip will take about two hours.

 

By Air

Guests can fly to the nearby Lake Manyara airport and then drive to Tarangire in two hours. However, driving from Arusha is the best option because the whole trip takes the same amount of time.

Best Time to Visit

Climate and weather

Throughout the year, Tarangire’s weather stays mild to warm with some days being warmer than others. The days stay around 79 F in the dry winter months, and the nights may drop to the mid-fifties. During the rainy, warmer months of December through February, there are some small differences. During these months, the days will get up to 82 F and the nights will be a mild 62 F. The best time to see wildlife is from June to September, when it is dry.

 

Staying away from crowds

A lot of people visit Tarangire National Park from June to September. To dodge the crowds, you might want to go between mid-October and early December, when it doesn’t rain as much. People who like to watch birds might want to go to the park in January or February, when it is very green and a great time to do so.

The “Big Five” animals live in Tarangire National Park, which is known to have one of the largest numbers of elephants in Tanzania.
